Celebrities React to Nelson Mandela's Death on Twitter
Nelson Mandela, South Africa's former President, passed away Thursday at the age of 95, leaving the world in a state of mourning. "He is now resting. He is now at peace," President Jacob Zuma said during a televised address. "Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father." He added, "His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, his compassion and his humanity earned him their love.”
The anti-apartheid hero—who served 27 years in prison and became South Africa’s first-ever democratically voted president—has touched and changed so many lives including Hollywood, who took to Twitter to express their condolences for Mandela, contributing to a total of 7.2 million tweets since the news broke.
