Cate Blanchett has been recruited to join the world of Marvel. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the actress is in the final negotiations to star in Thor: Ragnarok, which is currently slated to hit theaters in 2017.

No word as to what role she'll take on, but we're pretty excited at the prospect of having another kick-ass female join the franchise. Along with Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the Norse god of thunder, while Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk will also cameo in the film. Now that's all-star lineup.

With this news, it looks like Blanchett has a busy year ahead. Yesterday, she received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Carol, the film adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Price of Salt, and we predict she'll rack up some more nods as awards season gears up.
