We already knew that Carrie Underwood was a woman of very many talents, and after seeing the parade of stunning outfits she worked at the CMA Awards last week, it became clear that her ability to do a quick wardrobe change was one of them. In addition to the gorgeous Lorena Sarbu number she wore on the red carpet, the star and host of the show wore 10 different outfits over the course of the ceremony, bringing her to a grand total of 11 dresses. "I was not planning on it! I was like, if there's one year that I'm not gonna change my clothes as much, it will be these year, because I'll probably have a harder time finding dresses," Underwood tells InStyle.com. "But I found several that I liked and I was like, you know what? I'm not gonna let a little baby bump stop me!" That's the spirit!
The singer, who is also the celebrity face of Almay, is practiced at pulling a mid-show costume change---when she hosted the show in 2013, her dress count was at 10, and in 2012, she rocked 12 different dresses. "I love seeing pictures afterwards and hearing my friends say what their favorites were," she tells us. "It is kind of hectic backstage, and sometimes I'm kind of running to and fro, but that's okay! It's fun to get to play dress-up." Luckily, Underwood and her glam squad have the motions down to a science. Their method? Plot out each and every look, and keep them in order. "We definitely lay everything out, and during rehearsals, I run them all back and I'll visualize the next day like, 'Okay, now I'm gonna put on this red dress,'" she adds. "It's a dance! It's a well-choreographed dance we all know." Clearly, Carrie can cut a rug.
