Why Camilla Parker Bowles Won't Be Attending Princess Eugenie's Wedding
So there's good news, and there's bad news.
First, the bad news: Over the weekend we learned that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, will not attend Princess Eugenie's wedding to Jack Brooksbank, which is going down bright and early on Friday morning at St. George's Chapel.
The good news? Well, at least she has a good (read: Queen E-approved) excuse. You see, Prince Charles's better half has a prior engagement, and it's nothing frivolous, like a spa appointment. Rather, Camilla will be occupied with a work-related matter that was scheduled before the date of her step-niece's wedding was revealed.
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter wrote on Twitter that she would be missing Eugenie's big day not out of ill will or malice, but because she had "already committed to attending a school event."
"It's duty first," wrote Arbiter.
The Mirror reports that Camilla is visiting a school in Scotland, and though we imagine it'll be a major bummer to miss one of the biggest events of the year, it would be even more heartbreaking to disappoint a bunch of children.
Arbiter adds that it is very likely that the Duchess of Cornwall will have explained to Eugenie why she couldn't attend her wedding. The pair have been photographed together on multiple royal occasions, including on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping of the Colour, as well as sharing a carriage for the Royal Ascot, where they were joined by Prince Charles and Princess Beatrice.
We're assuming they'll be no bad blood between the royals.
