Ellen DeGeneres's Oscar Selfie Is in Jeopardy, New Dad Bradley Cooper's Here to Help
It's been three years since Ellen DeGeneres memorably broke social media records with the star-studded 2014 Oscar Awards selfie that was seen 'round the world. But rather than resting on her laurels, the television host is enlisting the help of Bradley Cooper to help keep her retweet record going in a hilarious new PSA video.
The new dad and Silver Linings Playbook actor—who memorably took the record-making selfie as Hollywood A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Lupita Nyong'o, Channing Tatum, and Kevin Spacey crowded in—was originally the subject of DeGeneres's lament as she joked, "If only Bradley's arm was longer. Best photo ever. #oscars."
Now with Ellen's record of 3.3 million retweets threatened by high school student Carter Wilkinson, who is hoping to win a year of free chicken nuggets from Wendy's with a requisite 18 million retweets, the star is teaming up with the daytime emcee for a mock PSA.
"We need your help," the somber comedian addresses the screen before Cooper chimes in, "Ellen and I are dangerously close to losing our title for the most re-tweeted tweet of all-time" and starts rubbing DeGeneres's shoulders.
While the talk show host proposed that she would gift the teen a year of free Ellen underwear and a TV if every person that retweeted Wilkinson's tweet also reshared her selfie so that she could keep her title, Carter responded by telling the former host to "Hold onto [her] undies" as Wendy's had just promised to donate $100k to adoption charity Dave Thomas Foundation if he surpassed her record.
Looks like it's officially game on!
