Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Release Separate Statements on Their Divorce
It was the breakup news heard 'round the world: On Tuesday confirmation that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were splitting up after two years of marriage sent the Internet into a tizzy. As we slowly started to collect our thoughts and get back to work (we feel you, Chrissy Teigen), the exes released separate statements on the divorce.
Pitt gave a statement to People and said that his focus is on their six children—Maddox, 15; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 10; Knox, 8; and Vivienne, 8—during this tumultuous period. “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” he said. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

Jolie filed for divorce from the actor on Monday, after two years of marriage, and cited irreconcilable differences. The couple dated for a decade before their 2014 wedding and, according to court documents, separated on Sept. 15.
The mom of six released a statement through her attorney on Tuesday after the news broke. “This decision was made for the health of the family,” her legal representative said. “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
