Boy Meets Girl: We Can't Get Enough of This Masculine-Feminine Trend From #NYFW
Houndstooth? Correction: puppytooth. Designers have gravitated toward the traditional woven pattern for fall/winter 2015, showcasing miniature gun club checks on a variety of outerwear pieces, like blazers and overcoats, in rustic, autumnal hues. But instead of committing to a menswear-inspired look in its entirety, they've offset the masculine energy with romantic lace. The result—a brilliant masculine-feminine combo.
Rodarte gave sweet lace tops and lace-paneled leather skinnies a sophisticated-preppy spin with a mocha brown houndstooth blazer (above, left), while Michael Kors took the monochromatic shade and hardened a delicate lace dress with a fur-collared houndstooth topper all washed in the same teal shade (center). At Altuzarra, Joseph Altuzarra served up a study in contrasts with a sexy (yet, innocently pretty) white lace dress and a sophisticated long checked coat (right).
