A Spice Girl and Backstreet Boy Are Coming Together for This New Competition Show
Nineties nostalgia is at an all-time high right now in entertainment and we're not complaining. And ABC is getting in on the fun by reuniting two of our most beloved singers from the decade for a competition show that we cannot wait to watch.
Boy Band is the network's latest series that will debut this summer. As you can imagine, lots of singing will be involved, with judges Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Rita Ora just moved on from America's Next Top Model, but not to fret, as she already has a new gig as the new show's host.
The show's announcement was made at Tuesday's ABC upfront presentation. Boy Band will feature 10 episodes, in which singers will compete against one another for five coveted spots in the next great boy band and a Hollywood Records recording contract. Viewers will be able to vote live, so the show is adopting the American Idol model, as reported by Variety.
The pressure will be on for Boy Band, as hit groups from competition shows have been few and far between since One Direction won The X Factor seven years ago in the U.K. We'll definitely be tuning in!
