Blake Lively's Velvet Manicure: How to Nail the Look!
We're loving the textured manicure that Gossip Girl's Blake Lively stepped out wearing recently in New York City. The star's crushed-velvet blue nails by Ciaté ($19, sephora.com) added a beautifully rich decadence to her digits. "Blake was so torn between the Berry Poncho and the Blue Suede," founder of the nail polish brand and Lively's manicurist, Charlotte Knight, told InStyle.com. "She is known for her amazing self-styling so her wanting the velvet manicure was such an incredible compliment." To get the newlywed's plush mani, Knight suggests you start with clean, oil-free nails. (Swipe nail beds with remover to ensure.) Then, apply one coat of the paint pot shade and let it dry. Next, apply a second coat and sprinkle a generous amount of the crushed powder onto wet nails until you have created a heavy layer. Gently sweep off excess powder using the little black brush and let nails dry completely. Knight says the finished look adds "instant texture and depth to your manicure that others just want to touch." She's not kidding! And check out all of our favorite fall nail shades.
