Playing a movie superhero has got to earn you some clout with kids ... right?

Ok, maybe that's true in most cases, but not necessarily for Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. The actor revealed Wednesday that his daughters—3-year-old James and 19-month-old Inez—were less than amused when they saw him in full Deadpool superhero makeup.

“When I’m in the scar makeup, that’s hard for my kids because they were on set a lot,” he said during an EW Radio Spotlight. “I leave the house in the morning and I’d be ‘Dad’ and then by lunch it looked like I fell asleep on a stove.”

Part of Deadpool's character backstory includes facial disfiguration, which meant that Reynolds had to look the part by wearing intense facial scar makeup. His youngest, Inez, was not particularly thrilled about this.

“My 1-year-old daughter would just sob, I mean for hours after seeing me. It’s torture because you can’t rip it off in the moment and be like, ‘No, no, no! See I’m under here,’ [and] undo four hours of prosthetic makeup work,” Reynolds said. “I elected to just continue to scar her,” he joked.

Maybe when she's old enough to see the movie, it'll all make sense.
