As the couple awaits the arrival of their second child, we can only imagine that the young family will have even more to joke about. In honor of their fourth wedding anniversary, join us in taking a look back at 10 times they gave us total #RelationshipGoals.
1. Their marriage is grounded in friendship.
"We were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends. That's what I appreciate about our relationship is that he's my friend first and foremost,” Lively told People. In fact, sparks started flying between them when they were on a double date with other people. “We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party because we were just like fireworks,” Reynolds said.
2. They totally appreciate each other’s sense of humor.
On Lively’s birthday this year, Reynolds marked the day with a hilarious tweet. “Just want to wish Billy Ray Cyrus the most special, magical birthday ever. I love you with all my heart. Also, Happy Birthday to my wife.” While other women might be offended by his backhanded remark, Lively loves him for it.
3. They don’t take selfies very often, but when they do, they’re great at it.
The couple hosted their niece Heather during a fun trip and clearly enjoyed having a young lady in the house. “@vancityreynolds and I are never letting our Heather go home!!!!” Lively captioned this cute photo. The proof is in the picture that they’ll continue to be great parents when little James is Heather’s age.
4. These parents know how to have fun.
Lively and Reynolds were among the older guests in the crowd at Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July bash this summer, but that didn’t stop them from splashing in the waves and hanging by the pool with Swift’s model girl gang.
Blake Lively showed off her baby bump at Taylor Swift’s epic Fourth of July bash wearing a tiny maroon bikini with aqua stripes, accessorizing with layered gold necklaces and tortoiseshell shades.
5. Speaking of parenting, they take quite a relaxed approach.
“My kid is like playing with like explosive devices. I don’t know where she’s found them, like sticking it in our dog’s ear. I mean it’s just like, she already knows how to drywall because she puts holes in the wall,” the actress told Seth Meyers of daughter James’s mischievous ways. Lively also joked that she’ll use their toddler as a babysitter when the new addition comes along. “I feel like at a year and a half she’s equipped to be a babysitter, right? Like we can go out and do date night and we’ll be fine with that?”
6. Lively's killer maternity style and Reynolds's dad jokes will keep on coming.
"I’m one of five kids. My husband’s one of four. We are officially breeders. You can go on our website and we will give you some of our children,” Lively joked on Today.
7. They broke international law for pie.
“My wife is a foodie. She loves these apple pies that they make at this place in Vancouver where I grew up, so we grabbed a bunch of them and we were driving back down to the States. We were crossing the border—you’re not allowed to cross the border with vegetables. It’s illegal,” Reynolds told Graham Norton. So how did he make out with the bounty? He had to sing and dance (literally) for the border agent.
8. Their Instagram humor knows no bounds.
9. Even while giving birth, their sense of humor was unsurpassed.
"At one point in the middle of the delivery the doctor’s cell phone went off and she went, ‘Oh no, go ahead, take a personal call. Feel free.’ She was cracking jokes!” Reynolds told Conan O'Brien. The actor even went so far as to play Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” while she was in labor.
