Blake Lively’s New Movie Looks Like the 2018 Version of Gone Girl
Blake Lively has been pulling out all the stops to promote her new movie, A Simple Favor, making a drastic change to her Instagram account on Tuesday in support. The actress unfollowed everyone (including hubby Ryan Reynolds), starting following a bunch of girls named Emily Nelson, and deleted all of her photos. “What happened to Emily?...” she wrote in her bio as part of an elaborate scheme to endorse her new film, and on Wednesday morning we finally got the first trailer.
Lively dropped the teaser trailer on Twitter and Instagram, and from the looks of it, this movie is going to be the next Gone Girl. Lively stars as Emily Nelson, a posh, “elegant” woman who seemingly disappears into thin air. Anna Kendrick plays her best friend, who realizes after Emily’s disappearance that there was a lot she didn’t know about her friend.
“She’s an enigma, my wife. You can get close to her, but you can never quite reach her,” Emily’s husband Sean (played by Henry Golding) says. The last shot of the trailer shows of a shot of Lively as a redhead, so it seems that she might have had a part in this disappearance of hers.
Reynolds, for what it’s worth, responded to Lively unfollowing him on Instagram, and of course he’s being a good sport about it all. “Definitely stinks. It’s a terrible way to find out that I’ve been kicked out of the house, to be honest. Absolutely terrible,” he joked to Smallzy.
Considering how well these two roast each other, seems like all is well in the Lively-Reynolds household. A Simple Favor hits theaters Sept. 14.
