Black Friday is the one day of the year the country is allowed to go on complete freak-out mode when it comes to purchasing those coveted items you’ve had on your radar. Whether you’re shopping electronics or some of the season’s must-have shoes, retailers across the country are gearing up for large crowds with even larger promotions.

If you are an early bird or would like to catch a few extra z's after eating to your heart’s content, below is everything you will need to know for planning your Black Friday shopping excursions.

JCPenney opens their doors for holiday shopping at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and most stores run until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Best Buy kicks things off at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, just in time for you to digest your dinner. Most stores will close at 1 a.m. but fear not: the retailer will reopen at 8 a.m. on Black Friday (and close at 10 p.m.).

Nordstrom is among the retailers that will not be open on Thanksgiving, but be prepared for Black Friday. Most stores open at 8 a.m. (select locations will open at 9 a.m.) and closing times vary from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.


Most Kohl’s stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and will remain open through Black Friday.

Dillard’s stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but most will open early at 8 a.m. on Black Friday and close at 9 p.m.


Most Macy’s stores will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and operate until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Target starts Thanksgiving Day shopping at 6 p.m. Most stores will remain open until 12 a.m. on Black Friday though some will close an hour earlier.


For the beauty lovers: Most Ulta stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and close at 2 a.m. But fear not, locations are set to reopen at 6 a.m on Black Friday and remain open until 10 p.m.


Walmart's in-store deals begin at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Closing times vary by store.

Before you head out for the holiday sales, be sure to contact your local stores as holiday hours can vary depending on location. Otherwise, shop until you drop!
