How to DIY Beyoncé’s Black and Gold-Studded Super Bowl Nails
All eyes were on Beyoncé during her epic Super Bowl halftime performance, but we also couldn’t help but notice her sleek black-and-gold manicure (below), which was the perfect accent to her edgy black-leather DSquared2 leotard and gold harness—and, of course, her signature dance moves.
To create Bey’s sleek nails, her manicurist, Lisa Logan, explained to InStyle, "she is into a matte nail now so I applied OPI Natural Nail Base Coat ($10; macys.com)." Logan then chose a color that matched the "Formation" singer's performance costume perfectly: OPI's Black Onyx ($10; macys.com). Once the inky polish was dry, Logan used OPI Matte Top Coat ($10; ulta.com) to prevent chips and add a shine-free touch.
"About 30 mins after doing the nails, I didn’t feel like they were enough, so I suggested we add a touch of sparkle," said Logan. "I showed her variations of gold studs and we decided to place one small stud on each finger, ensuring that it didn’t compete with any jewelry or the outfit." Once each embellishment was in place, the nail expert sealed the jewels in place with another layer of the matte top coat.
The result? A manicure that slayed just like Beyoncé’s performance.
