Beyoncé loves to surprise her fans. And after dropping "Formation" in February without any prior warning, now she's at it again with mystery project, "Lemonade."

She dropped a 20-second teaser clip for the forthcoming project to her Instagram page, revealing that the full version would premiere on HBO on April 23 at 9 p.m. ET. Now, HBO has released a full minute-long trailer, give us a glimpse of what we're in for.

It opens on a slow-motion shot of the singer wearing a fur coat and sporting braids in her hair. We hear her utter "The past and the present merge to meet us here." And between more dark, dreamy shots and a sneak peek at a cameo from model Winnie Harlowe, she can be heard saying "What are you hiding?," "Why can't you see me?," and "What am I doing, my love?"

So far, so ambiguous. But many of her fans have speculated it may be a feature-length music video for her new album, which would corroborate with news that she was expected to drop a new record later this year, but had not yet issued a release date.

The 34-year-old also teased us with lemon-themed photos back in September, so we know "Lemonade" has been in the pipeline at least since then.

Could this be the Beyoncé project to one-up for her self-titled 2013 album? We'll have to tune in to find out. Watch the full HBO trailer below.
