If Beyoncé’s Nefertiti-inspired, gilded Balmain Coachella outfits didn’t confirm that she perceives herself as a queen, the Met Gala would have made that very clear. Obviously, #QueenBey never showed up to the glamorous red carpet event last month, but one designer gave us a taste of all that could have been.

As Buzzfeed captured, designer Michael Costello—a Project Runway alum who has dressed Jennifer Lopez, Tiffany Haddish, and yep, Beyoncé—took to Instagram Stories this week to sift through ornate pieces of headgear he and his team worked on, one of which was designed for Mrs. Carter to wear to the Met Gala, at least according to him.

In a sneaky since-deleted snap, Costello wears the crown jewel and explains it was designed for the pop star, adding, “It’s so heavy." He also belts into song, delivering what we’ve determined should be his new Instagram bio: “If you look it then you should have put a crown on it.” The massive gold design indeed looks weighty, and it carries a similar resemblance to ornate toppers she’s worn at the Grammys and on stage before.

Earlier this year, rumors swirled about whether or not Beyoncé and Jay-Z would make a Met Gala return since last attending in 2016, but of course they never showed. According to Entertainment Tonight, her man surprised her with a last-minute trip, despite the fact that Peter Dundas—and apparently Costello—were working on her look for quite some time.

What a tease.
