Beyoncé Just Tore Up the 2016 BET Awards with a Surprise Performance
Queen Bey stormed the Microsoft Theater stage Sunday evening in a custom Julien MacDonald Swarovski crystal-encrusted bodysuit imprinted with a tribal tattoo and festooned with long silk fringe beneath the arms, treating the audience to her song “Freedom,” off of her still-talking-about-it Lemonade album.
Right off of the top of the show, her backup dancers appeared while the late Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech” played in the background.
After slaying the water dancing routine seen on her current Formation World Tour, Bey hit the audience with yet another surprise in the form of Kendrick Lamar, who joined her in the water to rap his “Freedom” verse.
News about Mrs. Carter's potential performance spread when her backup performers were spotted entering the arena (in formation, naturally).
Beyoncé is up for five awards tonight, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award, and the Centric Award.
