Meet Jack Huston, the Ben-Hur Star Whose Style Is Making Us Seriously Swoon
You may not be familiar with the name Jack Huston right now, but all of that is about to change. After supporting roles in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and the Nicholas Sparks's hit The Longest Ride, the 33-year-old English actor (and nephew of actress Anjelica Huston) is stepping into the spotlight today as Ben-Hur in the historical drama by the same name.
And while we’re excited to see the star take on the storied character that earned Charlton Heston an Oscar in 1959, we can’t help but notice how dapper Huston has been looking off-screen too. Earlier this week at the L.A. premiere of Ben-Hur, he kept it classic with a sleek black Prada suit and Tiffany & Co. watch (above). But, really, his style has been catching our eye throughout the film’s press tour.
“Jack is very spirited when it comes to fashion,” says stylist Petra Flannery, who has been outfitting the star for the last few years, along with other A-list clients like Emma Stone, Mila Kunis, and Amy Adams. “He still gets really excited about clothes, which makes the whole process more fun.”
Flannery says that recently they’ve been inspired by Gene Kelly’s wardrobe from the 1951 musical An American in Paris. “We are into pants that have a little bit of a looser fit, but are still very gentleman-like,” she says, referencing a pair of pinstripe Brunello Cucinelli trousers that Huston wore to a photo call for the movie in Brazil (below). “It’s kind of a throwback. But he has a great sense of that time because he comes from Hollywood royalty.”
When he wants to go for more a traditional suit, his choices are never basic. At the premiere in Mexico City, Huston opted for a tailored look by Prada, but done up in a rich olive green (below). “He's British, so he has this innate elegance about him when he puts on a suit,” says Flannery. “And this was such a great color on him.”
Citing Burberry, Tom Ford, and Alexander McQueen as current go-tos—he rocked a navy tux by the latter to this year’s Met Gala (below)—his stylist says that the actor is always open to trying something new too. “Jack has a cool factor to him, whether he goes for a suit or jeans, a T-shirt, and worn-in boots,” she adds. “He always stays true to himself.”
