Ben Affleck Received “Valuable” Batman Advice from George Clooney and Christian Bale
Before suiting up for the first time for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck talked to some of the greats who wore the batsuit before him. The actor reached out to George Clooney, who played the caped crusader in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, and Christian Bale, the star of the recent Dark Knight trilogy.
“I talked to Clooney and he gave me some advice which is not repeatable,” Affleck joked to Good Morning America’s Jesse Palmer. But Bale’s words of wisdom were much more helpful. “I talked to Christian, who just told me to make sure I got a zipper in the suit, which was valuable, practical advice as it turned out."
Unlike his Dawn of Justice costar Henry Cavill, Affleck didn’t have recent experience portraying a superhero and thus trained for a year to get into fighting shape.
“I ended up putting on about 20 pounds of muscle which was really hard to do at my advanced age,” he joked. We’re sure his new guns will pay off onscreen—and make the fight between a superhuman and a mortal a little more fair.
