Azzedine Alaïa Will Show Couture for the First Time in Six Years
Every so often, a celebrity or model hits the red carpet at a high-wattage event in the designer that the fashion crowd agrees can do no wrong: Azzedine Alaïa. Since releasing his first collection in 1980, the Tunisian-born talent has won over the hearts of Kate Moss (above), Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Kendall Jenner, to name a few.
So, without a doubt, the fact that he’s returning to the couture runway is BIG NEWS. As WWD reports, Alaïa will present his first couture collection in six years in Paris on July 5, between the Valentino and Fendi shows. The last time he debuted couture? 2011, when Kanye West and fellow designer Donatella Versace sat in his front row. And that came after eight years of shying away from the couture schedule.

The designer’s exclusive couture line is only sold at his Rue de Moussy store in Paris, meaning that the chance to wear, much less purchase, one of these coveted looks is one on a million. Yes, he’s shown ready-to-wear season after season, but couture? Gird up your loins!
So who can we expect to walk in or attend the July 5 show? A quick glimpse at the brand’s Instagram proves that the designer has an appreciation for of-the-moment models like Bella Hadid and Anna Cleveland, and a soft spot for ‘90s favorites like Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford.
