By now, we've touched on all the many ways to master dressing for awkward in-between weather, like with stylist-approved winter-to-spring pieces, transitional shoes, and spring layers that work for every kind of climate. And we have one more to add to the list—cape-style pieces. They boast the same open-sleeve silhouette seen in traditional heavy-duty wool cape coats, but that's where the similarities end. Caped blazers and dresses offer a degree of protection from chilly spring breezes without fully covering up. It's akin to draping a jacket over your shoulders, but unlike other spring outerwear (read: denim jackets and utilitarian toppers), these are infinitely more polished and sophisticated.

Celebrities have already taken note, both on and off the red carpet. Chrissy Teigen wore a smart black tux-inspired piece on the red carpet (above, left), while Olivia Wilde grounded her white caped suit set from her Conscious Exclusive collection with H&M with a cool graphic tee (center). Lastly, Elizabeth Olsen stunned on the red carpet at the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere in a bejweled Saint Laurent cape dress (right).

Master fickle spring weather once and for all with these sleek caped pieces that can take you from the office to cocktails to dinner.
