Book a Road Trip Quick with the Flashy (and Affordable) Silvercar Pop-Up App
For all of you car-less New Yorkers desperate to peep the fall foliage as it begins its transition from green to gold, Silvercar has a solution. The all-Audi, app-based car-rental company launched on September 28 and will keep its engine running through the end of the year.
The brilliant concept: a high-style car on demand. Just download the app (iPhone and Android) or go online, book your time slot, and alert the app when you're 15 minutes away from the accessible West 42nd Street pickup spot. Et voilà—a fully-loaded Audi A4 will unlock as quick as you can scan the QR code on the dashboard. Seriously, no paperwork, no waiting, no dubious carpark involved. Not in New York City? Silvercar has 10 other locations across the country as well.
To facilitate your road trip, Silvercar has partnered with the 10-room Arnold House in the Catskills to create a curated fall foliage driving tour to the inn.
If you thought cruising the winding country roads in an Audi was expensive, think again. Silvercars go for $79 a weekday or $129 on the weekend—more affordable than most legacy car rental agencies. So go pick your apples and sow your wild oats: This is the luxe sharing economy.
