Ansel Elgort at the InStyle Awards: "You Could Dress Me In a Big Bird Costume and I Would Feel Confident"

At the first-ever InStyle Awards in Los Angeles Monday night, Ansel Elgort was honored with the Man of Style award, and for good reason. The actor has been dressing to the beat of his own drum, so to speak, since he was young, and has been turning heads with his style since his breakthrough roles in Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars. And although he's only 21, Elgort has a refreshingly wise secret to his style.

"Being stylish isn't about wearing a suit every day," he told us before accepting his award. "You don't have to look like you're out of Mad Men to be stylish. I think it's just about being yourself and being comfortable wearing anything. You could dress me in a Big Bird costume and I would still feel confident." Now that is a look we'd love to see the actor rock.

But, being the humble heartthrob that he is, Elgort admits that there are many others out there he thinks are more stylish than he is. "It's funny that I would be called a 'Man of Style' because I feel like I'm just becoming a man now," he says. "I think there are a lot more men out there who are more stylish than me."
