While planning her son's very first birthday party last month, Anne Hathaway ran into a bit of a social media reality check: Pinterest can be very intimidating.

During her Thursday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show alongside her Colossal co-star Jason Sudeikis, the actress shared the experience of preparing for little boy's first birthday. "We tried to keep it pretty low-key," the mom of one said. "We kept the theme just rainbows, which is a fun theme because it's hard to go wrong with it."

However, the 34-year-old found that a simple search for inspiration could quickly turn into a minefield. "But I made the mistake: I went on Pinterest and looked at other people's 1-year-old parties. It's not fair what some people do," Hathaway joked.

"You know, some children have party planners, which is definitely not fair. Think about it. They blow it out!" she said of her disheartened feelings while putting together the bash for her son Jonathan, whom she welcomed with husband Adam Shulman last year.

Sudeikis, who shares two kids with wife Olivia Wilde, agreed: "It's like, 'Look what I can do for your kid!'"

Putting aside a little time for fun and games themselves, the Oscar-winning actress teamed up with tWitch while her comedian co-star partnered up with DeGeneres to try their hand at "Guesstures," a game where the participants have to act out a series of words on cards for their fellow players to guess.
