The Simple DIY for Amy Adams's Party-Proof Ponytail
Awards season is upon us, and Amy Adams's sophisticated ponytail is the perfect style to don for a red carpet-worthy celebration. The polished 'do is ideal for keeping tresses out of your face, while still serving an elegantly glamorous look. For the Max Mara Spring 2016 Accessories Campaign Celebration, the stunning actress worked with hairstylist Harry Josh to create flawless style, and he revealed to InStyle that the the inspiration for the look was, "sleek, sophisticated, and minimalistic."
There was no room for frizz in this look, and the hair expert explained that "to get her super smooth, I prepped her wet hair with John Frieda Frizz Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum ($10; ulta.com). Next, I sectioned hair and blow-dryed strands straight with a boar-bristle brush, which ensures that each section was completely dry and smooth."
To further flatten Adam's tresses Josh divided the hair into one-inch sections and pressed strands from root to tip with the Harry Josh Pro Tools Ceramic Styling Iron ($200; dermstore.com). "The ceramic tourmaline plates left her hair super straight and shiny."
Once her hair was as polished as possible, "I used a tail comb to carefully part hair on the side before pulling into a low ponytail secured with an elastic," he revealed.
A final spritz of John Frieda Frizz Ease Keraflex Hairspray ($10; ulta.com) added intense hold and show-stopping shine.
