Amy Adams Shares the Advice She'd Give Her Younger Self
It’s been eight years since Amy Adams floated across the screen as Princess Giselle in Disney’s Enchanted, but the actress once again dazzled guests in a fairy tale-like manner last night inside the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York. The redheaded beauty and Max Mara campaign star was on hand to celebrate the Italian brand’s new “A” handbag, a structured, roomy tote for which Adams extended her style savvy to help create in a limited-edition, blush-toned iteration.
Dressed in a star-printed white Max Mara coat with an elegant, long-sleeved lace top, a tailored black pencil skirt and matching neutral pumps, the actress had fashion on her mind. “I love their new collection and I love this sort of playful, feminine feel. I like clothes that have a little bit of playfulness to them,” Adams told InStyle of her standout look.
Between greeting a coterie of stylish guests inside the room, where pink-tinged flowers decorated a look-but-don’t-touch indoor pool, Adams expressed her love for accessories and recalled her first major handbag purchase. “I think my first one was this all leather Prada bag. It was very practical,” she said, adding, “Anytime you’re ready to invest that kind of money on something it’s memorable because you save for it.”
And while all eyes were on her for the night, she handled the spotlight like a pro and also managed to share practical advice for girls everywhere: “Don’t worry about anybody else’s story. Only worry about telling yours.” So what words of wisdom would she offer her younger self? “Let it go. Like Elsa [from Frozen] said, just let it go.”
