Angelina Jolie is a well-known humanitarian and activist, Oscar-winning actress, red carpet style star, and mother of six, but now she has added another title to the list: Dame.

Queen Elizabeth II awarded the actress with the honorary title in recognition of Jolie's extraordinary service to U.K. foreign policy and work to raise global awareness of violence against women. Some examples of her extraordinary work? Jolie hosted a global summit to end sexual violence in conflict in London just last week and in 2012 co-founded the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PVSI) with British Foreign Minister William Hague. The organization aims to increase international prosecutions for sexual violence and support countries in preventing and responding to the global issue.

Jolie's award is the female equivalent of an honorary knighthood and comes with a rather long title: Dame Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George. Congratulations to the star on this great honor!
