While we're still sleeping off our NYE excess, Hollywood is already back at the red carpet game for awards season. The destination? The desert environs of the Palm Springs International Film Fest, which has become a snazzy stop on the road to the Oscars. Just look at the bold-faced guest list (and the excellent fashions) and you'll see what we mean.

Take girl of the season, Alicia Vikander, who's nominated for two Golden Globes and took home the Rising Star award for the night. The 27-year-old played the demure yet fresh route in this frilled pink number with nude strappy sandals. To finish the ingenue look, she wore her hair half-up.

Vikander wasn't the only one who dressed to the nines. See our favorite looks of the evening below:

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp knows the glamorous allure of a power couple.

The blonde beauty joined her hubby (who was honored for his work in Black Mass) on the red carpet in a slinky black lace Dolce & Gabbana gown, complete with a stack of gold bracelets and black satin Brian Atwood pumps.

Kate Winslet is seductive in curve-hugging black.

The Steve Jobs star worked her curves on the red carpet in a sculpted black Roland Mouret gown that she accessorized with diamond earrings.

Helen Mirren shows she's still got it in sapphire separates.

Mirren was a vision in a royal blue cardigan that she elevated with a sweeping ball gown skirt, both by Alberta Ferretti, a gold belt, a set of sapphire teardrop earrings, and an embossed indigo Oroton bag.
