“We first met at the Toronto Film Festival, just on the dance floor, really,” the Oscar-winning actress told ET. “I thought [I was a good dancer] until she started dancing and then I felt like I had two left feet,” Fassbender chimed in.
The adorable couple said the chemistry between them “was sort of there from the beginning.” They started rehearsing for their new film in 2014, and their romance continued both on- and off-camera.
“She’s a fierce performer and very brave,” 39-year-old Fassbender said of his girlfriend’s performance. “As you’re testing the boundaries of how far you can go—she’s definitely got all of those things in spades.”
While their intense performances doubtlessly required hard work and dedication, the couple said that playing a married couple came easy to them. “Is this a job?” Vikander, 27, joked. “What is this love thing?” the Steve Jobs star added with a laugh.
"I remember on the first day we actually worked we stepped out and you said 'Give me something new, give me something new,'" Vikander recalled during a joint interview with eTalk. "And that kind of just set the terms ... of always trying to find a new door that was going to lead us down a new path." She added: "You're pushing each other and supporting each other all the way, and that's pretty much what we did."
