Get Adriana Lima's Romantic Hair and Makeup Just in Time for Valentine's Day
If you're still trying to figure out your beauty routine for Valentine's Day, then look no further. Adriana Lima stepped out last night for the 2016 amfAR New York Gala, and she made heads turn in a fiery Marchesa gown paired with stunning hair and makeup. Don't let Lima have all of the fun herself, you too can score her red carpet-worthy ponytail and sultry smoky eye with these easy-to-follow steps.
Her hairstylist, Jennifer Yepez, calls the pretty pulled back look #couturehair on Instagram, and we agree that it was definitely a work of art. Before rough drying Lima's strands, the pro prepped the base with Nexxus ProMend Heat Protecting Mist ($12; walmart.com) and Kérastase Mousse Bouffante ($37; kerastase-usa.com)."When you finish blow-drying the hair straight, make a center part with your tail comb," said Yepez. A Mason Pearson brush was key to ensuring that the hair lays as flat as possible. To perfect the sleek style, Yepez sprayed on Kérastase Laque Couture ($37; kerastase-usa.com) before pulling everything into a ponytail.
For the bow-inspired look, section the tail into two sections. Take the first section and, from the mid-shaft down, saturate with hairspray. "Then use your blow dryer to dry the hairspray, keeping the section very clean, tight and together. Once it’s dry, make a loop with this section to start your bow and use an elastic band to secure the loop." Repeat the steps on the second side to complete the bow.
Take a small piece of hair from the hanging strands and wrap it around the elastics for a polished finish. Yepez suggests applying Kérastase Gloss Appeal ($37; kerastase-usa.com) all over for an enviable shine.
Morgane Martini worked her magic around those piercing blue eyes. She created a smooth base by applying Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Grey Crystal ($7; drugstore.com) all over her lids. To smoke out her peepers the makeup pro revealed, "I made sure to keep it lighter on the inside corner of the eyes, darker on the crease, outside corner and bottom of the lashes." All of the shadow colors were pulled from the Maybelline Rock Nudes Palette ($10; target.com). A smoldering eye is never complete without a few layers of mascara. "I finished the eye look with the Maybelline’s The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in Blackest Black ($7; walmart.com) on the top and bottom lashes."
Lima's smooth complexion was enhanced with, "the new Dream Velvet Foundation by Maybelline ($10; target.com) with the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation Blender ($5; target.com) and with Maybelline’s Facestudio Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Powder ($10; ulta.com)."
