"You'll shoot your eye out!"

It wouldn't be the holiday season without A Christmas Story, and now viewers will have a whole new way to watch the iconic tale unfold.

Fox is set to air a three-hour live production of the classic musical based on the hit 1983 movie and the subsequent 2012 Broadway production, and it will come just in time for Christmas itself. And in case you have any doubts about whether it will live up to your expectations, check out the dream team involved with the project: Marc Platt will executive produce the special, Dear Evan Hansen veterans Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (who also won Oscars for La La Land) will write several new songs, and Grease: Live's Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary will adapt the book.

A Christmas Story is one of the most beloved holiday films of all time—audiences have made a yearly ritual of re-watching it—and we are so thrilled to have Marc leading the charge in bringing the musical version of that film to television,” said Fox Broadcasting entertainment president David Madden. “The extraordinarily gifted Pasek and Paul were instrumental in transposing the movie to the stage, and we believe the transition to LIVE television event will be just as entertaining for viewers.”

No casting news or premiere date other than December has been announced.

We can't wait to see that pink bunny costume come to live on the silver screen.
