5 Tights Trends from New York Fashion Week to Try Now
While we may have to wait until September to get our hands on all the gorgeous clothes that came down the runways at New York Fashion Week, there's one trend we can get a jumpstart on now: tights!
From sultry thigh-highs to flashy fishnets, designers served up legwear that's not only appropriate for the current freezing temps, but cute to boot. Here are five of our favorite looks below, plus similar styles to buy, ASAP. Consider yourself "so next season."
And, no, we don't mean heels. Thigh-high stockings were spotted at Rachel Zoe (above, right), See by Chloé, and Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet. Not sure you're ready to expose that much leg? Try a more modest pair that hits a bit above the knee and pair with a longer skirt, as seen at Tracy Reese (above, left).
All in the Details
Don't be fooled, you can wear pattern and texture and still looked polished. Try a side stripe to elongate your legs, as seen at Banana Republic (above, left) or a trompe l'oeil cable knit that looks cozy without the bulk, shown at Charlotte Ronson (right).
Move beyond standard black fishnets and opt for exaggerated cutouts or an electric-hued pair instead. Since these are on the flashier side, choose a simple color palette for the rest of your outfit, as shown above at Proenza Schouler (left) and Custo Barcelona (right).
Gray Is the New Black
Charcoal-toned tights are just as versatile as your favorite black pair, but they add bit of interest to your go-to looks, like wrap skirt (Richard Chai Love, left) or a cute coatdress (Costello Tagliapietra, right).
