You’d think that the 2018 Met Gala’s religious theme and exhibition (“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”) would have prompted several buttoned-up red carpet looks, but that certainly wasn’t the case.
As expected, celebrities like Rihanna, Blake Lively, and Jennifer Lopez arrived at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in fabulously ornate looks that honored the evening’s controversial subject, and that also got people on the Internet to talk. But are all of the best Met Gala looks exclusive to the red carpet? Not quite.
After stars wrapped up their dinner inside the ball, a youthful set headed out for a string of after-parties hosted by beloved designers like Donatella Versace and brands like Balmain. This year, everyone was quick to switch out of their massive, elaborately designed custom designs and into things that’ll get you upstairs and into the club, quick. Kim Kardashian West naturally looked sexy in a strappy, bondage-like mini dress, while Rihanna, of course, got out of that pope outfit and into something way more comfortable.
