There Was a Proposal on the Met Gala Red Carpet
Is it kosher to propose to your partner at the Met Gala? A certain set of celebrities would certainly say yes.
Yes, we know that Donald Trump famously popped the question to Melania at the event in 2004. And yes, we know that they weren’t welcome at this year’s celebration, but one couple hoped to up the ante on memorably proposals. As celebrities like Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Kris Jenner made their way up the stairs of N.Y.C.’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the main event, rapper 2Chainz had another thing on his mind.
After hitting the red carpet with Kesha Ward, 2Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, indeed got on one knee and asked Ward her hand in marriage.
As you’ll see in the video below, she luckily didn’t embarrass him in front of the crowds, slipping on her fresh engagement ring and flaunting it for everyone nearby.
So was she shocked? As it turns out, the couple is actually married—so this move was legit just for show. According to E! News, Ward and the rapper exchanged vows in 2013, so apparently he just really wanted to reminder her that he loves her. Or he wanted to renew their vows.
On Instagram, he shared a video of them en route to the big event, appearing to be excited.
This is the actual definition of extra.
