Gabrielle Union Proves This Trending Grandma Style Is a Sexy Summer Staple

When I fall asleep, I dream of a summer wardrobe that's just head-to-toe Prada, but then I open my eyes and see my bank account. And while Gabrielle Union, straight from the men's Prada show in Paris this weekend, is living my dream in a $1,620 Prada crochet bra paired with a Prada miniskirt and black pumps, her most recent look gave me more than just a pang of jealousy. It also gave me — all of us actually — a perfect vacation outfit formula that requires no Prada (although, it would help, of course).

While on a self-proclaimed #WadeWorldTour2022, Union posed on her Paris balcony, proving that there is enough room in this world (or at least in Paris) for more than just that one Miu Miu mini. She also proved that crochet is definitely one of summer's biggest trends, and it doesn't have to look like something your grandma would wear. If anything, it clearly looks better, as if it's something your grandma would like you not to wear.

A crochet top that is so small, it may as well be a bra is clearly the perfect thing to wear all summer — and pair with your tiniest miniskirt and tallest platforms. It's also the perfect thing to pack for a day at the beach; you can swap out a wet bikini with a sarong cover-up for a beach dinner outfit that requires close to zero prep time.

Sure, Union's crochet Prada crop cost $1,620, but there are plenty of options on Nordstrom for as little as $37. Frame makes a crochet halter bodysuit if you want more coverage and Farm Rio has a colorful option if you want more vibrance. Does that mean I'm still considering buying the Prada mini she's wearing? Yes, a girl can dream, but I'll be pairing it with more affordable crochet tops to look nearly a third as good as Union.
