Photo: Lionel Hahn/Getty Images Today, everyone is talking about what unfolded last night at the Oscars, but we're currently more focused on the very good afterparty looks. Definitely not as shocking as the night's events but still unexpectedly surprising was the fact that so many celebrities opted for all-black looks — not just for the ceremony itself but also the famous Vanity Fair celebration directly after. Rihanna showed off her belly bump in a totally sheer black top, Halsey also opted for an entirely black see-through gown, and Julia Fox accessorized a black skeleton-hand halter-top dress with a clutch embellished with human hair. While all these looks were pretty bold, Billie Eilish was the only one who accessorized her black dress with one of the biggest boot trends of the year. Eilish, who wore a custom tiered Gucci gown to the ceremony, opted for an archive Simone Rocha dress and earrings for the VF party. She completed the edgy look with over-the-knee, platform, lace-up boots, a footwear option not often spotted on the red carpet. Instead, most celebrities wear something more expected, like the platform Valentino pumps all of Hollywood apparently owns. But Eilish looked incredible and showed that platform, over-the-knee boots shouldn't just be reserved for non-party activities. They instantly add an edgy vibe to a feminine dress and are far more comfortable than a pair of Manolos. While a celebrity opting for lace-up combat boots instead of heels was not the most surprising thing that happened at the Oscars by a long shot, it's definitely the only styling trick we saw that we can actually implement in our own wardrobes. Luckily, Nordstrom has some incredible options to recreate Eilish's look, with some options on sale right now for as little as $86.
