She has also previously worked as a fashion writer and editorial producer, writing fashion features and producing and styling numerous photoshoots while interviewing everyone from Stella Bugbee to Alexa Chung. It debuted on the autumn/winter 2019 runway, and it was absolutely everywhere shortly thereafter. For the last two years, getting your hands on a pair was nearly impossible; the second they were restocked, they were gone, and waitlists were barely any help. If you walked into a Prada store asking for them, you'd receive a laugh from the sales associate. And now that winter is finally upon us, re-escaping their appeal is once again impossible, because seemingly every famous and/or stylish person on the face of the planet is sporting their pair. Selena Gomez, famous and stylish, just stepped out in New York City wearing a simple black coat, a YSL Le 5 a 7 Hobo bag, and a pair of the Prada Monolith brushed boots. This pointed toe version is simpler than the Mini Bag Monolith boots, which famously have two small Prada fanny packs wrapped around the ankles, but they have the same classic chunky lug sole (as does the Chelsea boot iteration), which is arguably their best feature. These boots are more popular than ever, and are absolutely an iconic, durable, and timeless staple you'll keep in your wardrobe forever. They've spawned thousands of copycats, which was predictable, considering a pair of Prada Monoliths will cost $1,000 or more. So if you're unable to splurge this season, there are some options for hundreds less that have the same exact vibe. Celebrities who own the famous Prada boots also own a handful of Vagabond, and its Cosmo 2.0 Chelsea boot is a great option for under $200. Ganni's Chelsea boot is another huge "It" boot of the season, and it costs less than $450. There's a boot by Billini for $85, and another by Steve Madden for $80, and both look so much more expensive than they are.
