Photo: Jamie McCarthy/WireImage It may be 45 degrees in New York as I write this, but I'm considering wearing Miu Miu underwear in plain sight. Why, exactly? Because we're smack in the middle of the return of low rise, seasons be damned. The internet is divided on the low-rise comeback, with some millennials who've lived through its origins suggesting it's proof that the apocalypse is here. Miuccia Prada could clearly care less about that, as she sent models down the runway at Paris Fashion Week with belly buttons on full display and pleated skirts so small, Miu Miu underwear was more than peeking out of nearly nonexistent waistbands. While the collection isn't available to buy just yet, Emily Ratajkowski is already bringing the look to the red carpet — or rather, the black carpet. At the CFDA Fashion Awards, Ratajkowski wore Miu Miu's Belle Nappa chain leather clutch with SS22 Look 32 straight off the runway, except she swapped out the loafers for a pair of white-cap Miu Miu Mary Janes instead. She clearly makes the look work for the cold, and although the exposed belly button may seem extreme, at least she's layered up on other body parts, right? Surely an assistant is holding a big black oversized puffer just off-camera. Surely. For those of us eager to try out the low-rise trend with a schoolgirl twist before the collection hits stores, there are plenty of Miu Miu loafers available on Nordstrom now, not to mention a handful of cropped gray sweaters, pleated skirts, and blue button-downs to try to DIY the look at home. Unfortunately there's no Miu Miu-branded underwear to shop below, but we guarantee come spring 2022, they'll be everywhere you look.
