Since 2019, she's been writing for InStyle where you can find her musing about celebrities' pantsless date night looks for InStyle's signature Look of The Day series or obsessing over multiple things on sale. She has also previously worked as a fashion writer and editorial producer, writing fashion features and producing and styling numerous photoshoots while interviewing everyone from Stella Bugbee to Alexa Chung. Tara's interested in why we wear the things we wear and what that says about who we are. At any given time she is probably busy justifying an impulse vintage designer purchase as "part of her job" or overanalyzing the return of low-rise jeans. She wore a fall outfit that felt straight out of the early 2000s: pants that look like pants (but upon further inspection appear to be yoga pants), white '90s skate sneakers that are on sale at Nordstrom, a simple knit Tory Sport turtleneck sweater, and 2015's favorite It bag, an overstuffed, oversized bucket bag, thrown over her shoulder. Along with Amal Clooney, Holmes has been working overtime to bring back this bag trend for months. This time around she took a page straight out of Ashley Olsen's $39,000 bucket backpack book. Not with price tag, but with stuff. Holmes packed her bag to the brim, so much so you can easily see her belongings overflowing from miles away. When Olsen was spotted with her The Row bag last year, you could see her laptop, charger still plugged in, dangling. But therein lies the appeal of the trend: It's actually practical. For that reason, splurging on a bucket bag by Mansur Gavriel, a pioneer in the trend, or Burberry, doesn't feel so farfetched. You'll get your moneys worth, as Holmes has demonstrated by wearing bucket bags on repeat for months. There are also a couple options on sale right now at Nordstrom by Tory Burch, as well as a handful for under $100, and a very popular version for Madewell for just $168. So next time you leave your house, get all of your stuff together, stuff it into the biggest bag you've got, and pull a Katie Holmes. Huge bags are coming back in a big way.
