By Tara Gonzalez Tara Gonzalez Instagram Website Tara Maria Gonzalez is a style writer with five years of experience covering celebrity looks, fashion week trends, and market. Since 2019, she's been writing for InStyle where you can find her musing about celebrities' pantsless date night looks for InStyle's signature Look of The Day series or obsessing over multiple things on sale. She has also previously worked as a fashion writer and editorial producer, writing fashion features and producing and styling numerous photoshoots while interviewing everyone from Stella Bugbee to Alexa Chung. Tara's interested in why we wear the things we wear and what that says about who we are. At any given time she is probably busy justifying an impulse vintage designer purchase as "part of her job" or overanalyzing the return of low-rise jeans. Photo: Bennett Raglin/Getty Images It feels surreal to type out, but NYFW is finally back, and as expected, Katie Holmes is all over it. She started off with bedazzled look for the Christian Siriano show from the first night of fashion week. She wore one of the designer's fall/winter 2020 looks, a pant suit with far more dramatic embellishments than any version we own. But we're more interested in how she managed to perfectly style her sexy Christopher Esber ab cut-out dress from last night with a pair of $113 Adidas sneakers. Holmes clearly loves comfortable footwear, from the ever-controversial Birkenstock to the famous Reebok sneaker every celebrity seems to own. We usually see her style this kind of footwear with sweatpants or a casual denim mini skirt, but last night, she wore a full-on party look with sneakers you'd typically throw on to run errands. Essentially, she chose comfort for NYFW, and any seasoned fashion editor will tell you, that's absolutely the best move. Plus, it gives off the vibe that the party was one of her stops for the night, but not her whole night. And what better way to make an Irish exit than in a pair of comfortable Adidas sneakers? We truly love to see it.
