Photo: The Image Direct No matter how much we might love everything to do with summer — beach days, long daylight hours, perfect tomatoes — there comes a point midway through the season when we start dreaming about fall fashion. Last year, as we all know, fall fashion meant picking out a slightly cozier pair of sweats and switching from Birkenstocks to Uggs. There was very little seeing and being seen happening amid a global crisis that sent us all indoors. This year, though, we're not holding back. Only a few weeks away from fall, celebrities are beginning to reveal their revenge looks, clearly eager to have a fall full of enough fashion to make up for all the lost time. And the trend that they're reaching for most happens to be the very one that dominated 2019: the lug sole boot. On a walk through New York City, Emma Roberts stepped out in a floral-print blouse, loose jeans, and Valentino platform boots. The chunky shoes were a fixture during the last fashion week before the pandemic, and now all the most stylish people are ready to return the silhouette to its former glory. The style, popularized by luxury labels like Prada, Balenciaga, and Bottega Veneta, has since inspired versions from countless brands, many of which are discounted right now at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Styles by Franco Sarto, Steve Madden, and Schutz can all be found for under $110, but if you want the real deal, an evergreen tip is to save your big ticket spending for Italist, an online retailer that offers Italian boutique prices (where current season, high-end designer finds are cheaper than in the States) to anyone with an internet connection. Plus, it's actually having a sale now, too (the Prada Monoliths are $400 off if you can score your size before it sells out). Nothing, even summer, lasts forever. But the lug sole trend, back for another chart-topping season, is coming close. Shop the celebrity-loved style from Nordstrom and Italist (on sale!) below.
