You could say it's been at least six months since we've even thought about wearing a crop top, let alone actually worn one. But you'd be mistaken. In reality, it's been about a year and six months since we last thought about wearing — let alone wore — a crop top.

While crop tops are generally reserved for the summer months, offering air circulation to our sweaty torsos for less than the cost of powering an A/C, I think we'd all agree that the summer just behind us wasn't the norm. On top of the countless other things we were cheated out of by COVID's wrath in 2020, we also tragically lost crop top season due to all the indoors-ing we were doing. Our heaux closets were space-saver vacuum packed under the bed, our "going out tops" were consumed by moths, and anything with an underwire lost all meaning. Instead, every day, we put on the same oversized t-shirt and did our silly little tasks.

All of us, that is, except Megan Fox.

Lately, Fox appears to be running a campaign funded by Big Crop Top, willing us to save our tiny tops from obsolescence. This past week, she's been spotted wearing the belly-baring garment at least three times — on a jaunt in Calabasas, to dinner at Nobu with beau MGK, and most recently in the image above, fully leaning into the look.

What are we to take from this pattern but that Megan Fox is the burning bush signaling the crop top's return? It's true that the oppressive cold is finally easing up and, yes, the vaccine is starting to make a dent in expert projections of safe reopening. After 18 crop-top-less months (truly no way to live), it seems like we might be able to welcome the micro-staple back.

In the spirit of reclaiming our favorite risqué half top (and since we're all a little rusty on the category), we've rounded up a couple of long-sleeve and sweater crops you can start wearing right away. Now, if only we could figure out how to roundup a set of Fox's abs for ourselves.
