Dressing for COVID is a new kind of confusing — some of us are faring better at the task than others — but dressing for season change is the original kind of confusing, which oddly brings us just a sliver of comfort in these "unprecedented times." For this undertaking, we have to tip our (late-summer, early-fall) hats to Irina Shayk, who managed to combine the most classic pieces from each season to make one actually cute transitional outfit. While out in New York City, Shayk wore a sold-out J Brand x Elsa Hosk Birthday Blazer layered over a Reformation Othello Dress, and rounded out the look with a pair of Dr. Martens 1490 Quynn Boots. The end vibe was "berry picking to bike gang with a PhD." Leather blazers had a massive uptick last fall, and all signs (Shayk herself being one of them) point to another boom season for the style. The versatile outerwear is more polished and professional than a motorcycle-style leather jacket, plus it serves severe '90s nostalgia (Linda Evangelista circa Kyle MacLachlan-years). What Shayk has further proved about leather blazers is that they can extend the life of your pretty summer dresses by months, at the very least. While her exact leather blazer is currently out of stock, we found a handful of suitable substitutes that you can wear with everything, from dainty dresses to chunky turtlenecks, and never have to fret over transitional tressing again.
