Searching for the perfect white sneaker can feel like a full-time job and, while we've found any number of exciting options — Allbirds and Hokas come to mind — the case has remained open. Until now. Kate Bosworth of Blue Crush and hypnotic husky-eyed fame stepped out yesterday in a pair of white Reebok Classic Leather Sneakers, and all we could say was, "duh." As in, how did we not think of these? The instantly recognizable athletic shoes have been around since the '80s, when Reebok ruled the sneaker scene, and the silhouette has remained more or less identical since its hey day. A stitched leather upper and crisp white laces sit atop a cushioned support and gum sole without much bulk or excess. The shoe's few embellishments include a recessed logo and embroidered Union Jack flag (Reebok is a UK-based brand) on the upper and a stitched fabric tag on the tongue. All in all, the sneaker acts the ideal neutral shoe: versatile enough to wear with just about anything, and classic enough to never go out of style. Bosworth, for her part, seemingly recognizes this piece's keystone place in her shoe wardrobe as it turns out she's worn it with many outfits in the past. Her look yesterday, which included jean cutoffs, a graphic tee, and Bottega Veneta sunglasses, was just one of many ensembles that can be anchored by a solid pair of Reeboks. Sundresses, skirt suits, and any manner of separates are all great matches for these classic leather sneakers.
