Amazon Has a Secret Feature That Lets You Design an Entire Room and Purchase the Products Immediately
One of the hardest parts of designing a room, regardless of its size, is visualizing what it will look like when all the furniture and decor arrives. That's why Amazon created Discover Rooms, a free virtual tool that lets you browse through room ideas and purchase similar products. And I used the feature to quickly (and affordably) furnish and decorate my small New York City bedroom.
On the Discover Rooms homepage, you can choose your room type, the style you're going for, and the specific products you want to purchase for the space. In my case, I chose a bedroom and mid-century modern as my design style. I was immediately drawn to a room with an upholstered platform bed frame and a wooden dresser and nightstand. The tool let me browse through similar bed options, and I bookmarked the Mr. Kate Daphne Upholstered Bed, which is currently 20 percent off.

While still browsing through the same room, I clicked on the nightstand to peruse similar wooden options with white accents. I found the Modway Origin Contemporary Two-Drawer Nightstand for just $137 and a matching four-drawer dresser for $309. I knew I needed a tall dresser given the size of my room, so I happily added both pieces to my cart.
Once I had the major furniture pieces out of the way, it was time to search for decor. I toggled over to the products section, and clicked on the home decor department to pick out a rug and a lamp. Again, I chose a modern design style, and I picked out the Unique Loom Del Mar Collection Area Rug for under my bed and the Krasty Gold Small Table Lamp for my nightstand.
The process took me less than an hour, and I was able to fill my cart with essentially an entire bedroom for under $850. If you're having a hard time designing a space in your home, but you don't want to spend money on a designer, the Discover Rooms feature has you covered. Trust me, it's the best way to bring your vision to life without spending tons of money.
