July's Full Moon Is Going to Get Under Your Skin
Expect to feel tired, wired, and irritable.
It's possible this month has had you nursing a nearly month-long hangover from June's jam-packed astrology — especially because Mercury didn't even fully leave its shadow phase until July 7. Now, during the month's full moon in fixed air sign Aquarius, which occurs at 10:36 p.m. ET/7:36 p.m. PT on July 23, chances are you'll be doing a lot of emotional processing around all of what you've just been through — and it could have you feeling wired, tired, and irritable.
The full moon in Aquarius will throw the spotlight on your relationships.
Aquarians are the ultimate friends with certain benefits of the zodiac. The ruler of the eleventh house of networking, friendship, and long-term wishes, they're most comfortable with platonic bonds and do a fantastic job creating massive webs of interpersonal connections, endearing themselves to a variety of teams, clubs, political organizations, etc. Not only do they value community and working with others to pursue the greater good but they have no interest in fitting into one narrowly defined friend group, or, in some cases, a monogamous relationship that feels downright draconian and suffocating, given their airy, unconventional needs. And when it comes to striking out on their own, they'll dig their heels in. And that fixed energy will come to the fore with this full moon.
Because the moon is making a wide conjunction to taskmaster Saturn, the planet of restriction, boundaries, and structure and Aquarian's original ruler, it'll set a serious, stubborn tone. You could feel like you need to proceed toward a certain goal — perhaps one you set during the July 9 new moon — in a very set, specific way, based on your ideals and beliefs. And yet, thanks to Saturn's presence, roadblocks are popping up at every turn, giving way to frustration and stress.
Venus throws the light on relationship stress.
Although they're incredibly independent, Aquarians rely on their massive network of connections to get through tough times, and that's exactly where your mind could go during this full moon — not only because it's in the fixed air sign but because the main astrological aspects occurring around it involve Venus, the social planet of relationships.
Not only does the moon form an awkward quincunx to Venus, kicking up tensions and irritations in your closest bonds, but Venus, now in Virgo, will be just past an exact opposition to Jupiter in Pisces, which can magnify relationship struggles and differences with a partner, friends, or colleagues, and also inspire us to overindulge in an effort to cope with that stress. There could also be a push-pull between one person wanting to stick to the facts (Virgo) and the other being perfectly content to embrace illusion or even resort to escapism (Pisces).
You'll have to make the best of feeling stuck.
This full moon serves as the first result of whatever you started back around July 9's Cancer new moon, which was all about standing in your sense of self — a theme that Aquarius is all about. But this moment will also serve as a reminder that when you own your desires and push for change, your nearest and dearest aren't always going to be on board, and underlying tensions will need to be dealt with before you can fully move forward.
And moving forward might also feel like an impossibility — or at least a very lonely venture — because the sun, now in Leo, will be moving toward its annual opposition with taskmaster Saturn, which occurs on August 1, presenting you with one headache-inducing obstacle after the next. The good news: Once the sun and Saturn move past their opposition on August 2, you could begin to exert your will, feel empowered, and find that the conditions for creating progress are more in your favor.
Here, more detail on how this Aquarius full moon will affect you and how to deal, based on your sign. (Pro-tip: Be sure to read both your sun and your rising sign, if you know it. If you don't, you can find it on your natal chart or via this CafeAstrology calculator.)
