Krista Carter is a writer and editor with nearly a decade of experience working in beauty and fashion. She joined InStyle in 2022, combining her beauty and fashion expertise with her background in publishing. Previously, she worked for Byrdie, covering topics ranging from skincare remedies to hairstyle how-tos — and everything in between.

She began her career writing and reporting for the New York Observer. There, she helped to launch Yue, a lifestyle magazine for luxury Chinese/Chinese American consumers. Krista then went on to work at American Express's e-commerce venture, vente-privee USA, where she produced customized digital content for leading fashion brands. Most recently, she managed Estée Lauder Companies' portfolio of 100+ global marketing sites across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Education

Krista graduated from Boston College with a B.A., majoring in English and minoring in Philosophy. As an undergraduate, she spent a semester abroad at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, completing coursework in Philology. In 2018, she received a certificate in Oenology from Instituto Gato Dumas College of Gastronomy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
