Jessica Chastain Channeled Karl Lagerfeld With New Platinum Blonde Hair at the 2023 Met Gala

Don't worry, it's not permanent.

If there's one thing about Jessica Chastain, it's that she knows how to make a statement on the red carpet — from a gown that was beaded into a sparkly spiderweb design to her viral red carpet moment with Oscar Isaac. And tonight she shocked everyone not with her clothes or antics, but rather her hair, ditching her signature bright red strands for a platinum blonde dye job at the 2023 Met Gala.

Inspired by the man of the evening himself, Karl Lagerfeld, Chastain wore her hair sleek, straight, and cascading down her back. But if you're a known lover of her fiery red hairdo and were disheartened to learn that she had made a major hair transformation, don't worry — it's a wig. The Cut asked Chastain if the change was permanent, and she assured fans that it was not. "It's not forever," she told the camera. "It's for Karl."

She paired her platinum 'do with a classic smoky eye and nude lips, making her hair the real star of her beauty look. We can thank her go-to hairstylist Renato Campora for styling the wig to perfection, using the Hair Rituel by Sisley-Paris Volumizing Spray in the roots for volume and adding the Hair Rituel by Sisley-Paris La Creme 230 to the ends to protect the hair from heat styling. He then blow-dried it straight with the Hair Rituel by Sisley-Paris Blow Dry Brush 2 and used a 1.25-inch curling iron to give the wig a slight bend. To finish off the look, he used a pea-sized amount of the Hair Rituel by Sisley-Paris Restructuring Nourishing Balm for some extra shine.
