Trend to Try Now: Metallic Eyeshadow

Kat Dennings, star of 2 Broke Girls, lights up the party circuit with metallic lids in exuberant color combinations.

Smoky Eyes and Holographic Nails
MAKEUP HOW-TO: After rimming Dennings's eyes with black powder liner, makeup artist Pati Dubroff traced it across lids, then smudged it with her fingers. "You want to create a base for the shadow," she says. She then applied a black iridescent shadow over the lids and underneath lower lash lines-and dotted lids with black-silver glitter. "If particles fall on your face, use a piece of scotch tape to blot them off," says Dubroff, who kept lips soft with a pale pink hue.

NAIL NOTE: Chanel's nail artist Tom Bachik lacquered Dennings'salmond-shaped nails with two coats of black polish and a clear, confetti-like top coat.

Bright Blue Cat-Eye

MAKEUP HOW-TO

: To create this look, Dubroff first traced navy pencil along Dennings's upper lash lines, extending it into an upward swoosh u inch past eyes. Then she layered a matte royal blue powder on top, concentrating the colorat the crease and blending outward to fatten the wing. Dubroff buffeda bright blue metallic cream over the center of lids "to attract light,"then slicked a rosy lipstick onto lips.

BROW NOTE: For a sleek finish, Dubroff spritzed hairspray on a disposable spoolie wand and brushed it through brows. "It's an easy way to keep them in place," she says.

Allover Gold Shadow

: Dubroff first swept a rich berry creamshadow over the entire lid using a flat shadow brush. ?If you want asofter, more sheer look, use your fingers instead of a brush,? says themakeup artist. Next, she layered on a glimmering gold cream from theinner corners to about midway across both the eyelid and the lower lashlines. The beauty pro then applied a powder highlighter with a touch of shimmer over Dennings's face to warm it up, and finished with berry lipstick.
