So there's really no better time than now to get your DIY on. This easy three-step project by Brooklyn-based celebrity event planner David Stark, whose A-list clients include Brad Pitt, Glenn Close, and Mariska Hargitay, to name a few, adds a festive touch to an everyday serving tray in less time than it takes for you to untangle that polyester spiderweb (seriously, though). And, with some slight tweaks, you can even repurpose this tutorial for other occasions by getting creative with fabrics and stencils. Read on for the full how-to. 01 of 04 GATHER THE MATERIALS Courtesy Here's what you'll need: Plexi tray with a bottom insert slot ($35; amazon.com) Silver leaf ($6; amazon.com) 1 sheet of 8.5" x 11" clear mylar ($7; utrechtart.com) Glue pen ($3; amazon.com) Spider web pattern Medium paint brush Spider confetti ($5; amazon.com) 02 of 04 PLAN YOUR PATTERN Courtesy Place the web pattern underneath the mylar and trace the design with the glue pen. You can make yours as simple or as complex as you like. 03 of 04 MAKE IT SHINE Courtesy Once the glue becomes clear (it starts out as blue) apply the silver leaf and gently remove the excess with the paint brush. 04 of 04 ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES Courtesy Insert mylar web into the slot at the bottom of the tray and sprinkle with spider confetti, then use your newly decorated tray to serve a cocktail with whimsical spider accents.
